    Hi,
This is a very low dose of codeine that you are taking. 32mg of codeine wouldn’t give you any problems. Keep in mind that some people cannot take codeine due to a deficiency in a particular enzyme in the liver. If you are one of those people, then codeine will simply not work, or work at a much lower level. Otherwise, this amount of codeine and aspirin would have a synergistic effect. From 32mg of codeine, you should feel relief from mild to moderate pain. Your stomach muscles will feel relaxed. Your mood will improve. However, the 2 most common side-effects with this, are:
    1) Itchiness : This usually isn’t a problem with this low a dose. If it is, an antihistamine will take care of the itchiness. Also, if you are taking this everyday, the itchiness will subside by the 3rd day of taking it.
    2) Constipation: Again, this would not be very severe because this is a low dose. However, if constipation becomes an issue, then a high-fibre diet (eg. Post’s High Fibre cereal for breakfast, Apples, Bran flakes) will help alleviate this.
Other side-effects like drowsiness is usually common with high doses. However, if you have never used other stronger painkillers like Hydrocodone or Oxycodone, then 32mg of codeine may make you sleepy. Usual warnings apply (don’t drive, don’t operate machinery etc.).

Be warned that codeine is addictive. Even though it’s a low dose, there are people who become addicted to low doses. Ideally, you should not use it for longer than 6 days in a row. After 6 days, take a break for a week at least. Or rather, try not to use it everyday and take it only when absolutely necessary.

Hope this helps. Feel free to drop me a line if you need more.

No. Actually 60 mg is the typical maximum level for codeine administered every 4 to 6 hours. Aspirin has the same ratio.
Its used for mild to moderate pain. Its really mostly used to help a non-productive cough and the maximum dosage is 120 mg. for the day. If you are using it for your migranes and since you’ve used it before you might get a little drowsy increasing the dosage. Anytime you are fighting pain with painpills it will have a sedative or calming effect. I really don’t think you will have any stomach problems. You do have to watch being constipated though. Codeine like other pain pills slows the GI tract down so if you have had constipation it will only increase with increasing the medicine.

    Hope this helps!

The codeine will cause nausea, dizziness, and drowsiness and possibly some constipation but it is a regular painkilling dose for an adult. The aspirin is kind of high for a single dose. The highest recommended dose (and that is for severe rheumatoid arthritis patients) is 1300mg four times a day. That dose comes with a big risk of developing GI bleeding and ulcers. If you NEED to take that dose (because of the codeine) please make it a one-time thing only and take it with some food to protect the stomach. Also, do not take more than 2000mg additional aspirin in the next 24 hours (in divided doses) so that your maximum daily dose does not go over 4000mg.
