Does baby aspirin really help avoid miscarriage?

honeybee asked:

I have had two m/c in the last 4 months, the first at 5 wks and the second at 4 wks. I have had two paps since, and both were negative. I have had a physical and complete blood work done and everything came back fine. I am only 25, so i know it has nothing to do with my age. I was told by my doctor that having 2 m/c in a row is still considered normal. He won’t refer me to a fertility specialist until i have a least 3 or 4 m/c in a row. We have decided to try again, but I DO NOT want to have another m/c. I have done research online and have found that it is suggested that baby aspirin can help prevent miscarriages. Has anyone had the baby aspirin work for them? And if so, did you experience any side effects with it? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Two in four months, I am sorry. But I am going to be painfully frank. Wait. Your body needs to get back to a normal state no matter how far along you were when this happened. First, wait six months to heal. Then start a vitamin regimen of a multi vitamin and folic acid 1 milligram for three months, then start trying. You are freaking out your hormones and they can’t keep up so you are not going to carry a child right now. If you have another miscarriage, don’t wait for your doctor to refer you, do it yourself. You can when you want another opinion on any insurance, except state. They will not cover it. Baby aspirin will not help. It cuts your vitamin K levels just enough to prevent you from conceiving. Take the time I have described and relax, you may be trying to hard. I understand wanting to be a mother but if your body is not ready you cannot force the body to keep that pregnancy. Chill out. I mean that in a good way. And another tip, lay off sex for a while. No that is hard sometimes but the body not being satisfied for a period can condone a better environment for pregnancy. Do that in the second month of folic acid. By the way, folic acid not only helps promote pregnancy, it helps with birth defects and miscarriages. Strengthens your chances. Try it and trust me.

I had this conversation with my doc today.
She suggested I either take baby asprin or get a progesterone suppository so yes it does help, I have had 5 miscarriages.

Never heard of baby aspirin before. Nobody under 18 years ofl should have aspirin, including pregnant and breastfeeding women. So, there is no baby aspirin!
I just can’t believe how some people think of such things!
I would think asprin would cause miscarriage since it’s a blood thinner but it’s not a fact!
    Listen to your doctor better.

It will help if a blood clotting disorder is causing your m/c’s. My doc tested me for that, antiophospholipid test, and lupus after 2 mc/’s. He also did progesterone test and everything came back fine…I am now 5 wk 6 days pregnant again and have not enjoyed one day of it! It is so stressful but, hopefully we just had back luck the first two times and third time is a charm! I would make your doc test you or get a new doc. M/c’s are tooo painful to keep going through, especially if they can be prevented!
