I need help with Chicken Pox treatment?

StuffedPillow asked:

I know that aspirin should not be used to treat chicken pox because it has been associated with Reye’s syndrome, but does that apply to tylenol, advil, etc.?

aspirin and tylenol?

sharpie_crayon asked:

I took an aspirin give or take 20 minutes ago for my menstrual cramps.

up until now I wasn’t really getting much relief.
now as I type this it seems as though there is a relief, but I was wondering if it turns out that the aspirin doesn’t relieve them, I could take 2 tylenol?

I usually take 2 tylenol and that does the trick but for some reason I chose an aspirin instead :/

I just didn’t want to have any bad side effects if they were somewhat mixed so I was wondering if I’d have to wait before I took tylenol also.

how to get rid of sun burns fast? How to get rid of sun burns fast? really fast?

Hot stuff asked:

Sunburn: First aid
Signs and symptoms of sunburn usually appear within a few hours of exposure, bringing pain, redness, swelling and occasional blistering. Because exposure often affects a large area of your skin, sunburn can cause headache, fever and fatigue.
If you have a sunburn:
?1/2 cup (about 120 milliliters) of cornstarch, oatmeal or baking soda and let is sit outside the fridge for 12 hours
? Take a cool bath or shower. Adding the mixed ingredients to your bath water may provide some relief.
?Apply an aloe vera lotion several times a day.
?Leave blisters intact to speed healing and avoid infection. If they burst on their own, apply an antibacterial ointment on the open areas.
?If needed, take an over-the-counter pain reliever such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others), naproxen (Aleve) or acetaminophen (Tylenol, others). Don’t give children or teenagers aspirin. It may cause Reye’s syndrome, a rare but potentially fatal disease.
Do not use petroleum jelly, butter or other home remedies on your sunburn. They can prevent or delay healing.
If your sunburn begins to blister or if you experience immediate complications, such as rash, itching or fever, see your doctor.

My child has a fever. Is it okay to administer baby aspirin, according to their age and weight? Is it?

STAR T asked:

1)As long as you use a formula strictly for children, there is no problem with using aspirin to reduce their fever.

2)Aspirin should not be used in children under 12 years of age. In rare cases, aspirin can cause Reye’s syndrome in children who have the flu or chickenpox, and can lead to death.

3)It is an old wives’ tale that aspirin is not safe for children. Make sure you follow the directions on the package for the appropriate dosage.

4)Aspirin is actually the safest choice for reducing fever in children. Studies have shown that it poses no risk of damaging the kidney and liver, like other antipyretics can do

Acetaminophen, Aspirin, and Anticonvulsants?

Cydney asked:

I take 450mg of Trileptal daily.
I was reading up on anticonvulsants and acetaminophen and how they can cause liver problems. Can a serious dose of Excedrin (250mg acetaminophen, 250mg aspirin, 65mg caffeine), more specifically 8 Excedrin taken at one time, interact with my Trileptal? Aside from the expected side effects, nausea, hyper-activity, and possibly racing heart, will I have any liver problems? Any long term liver problems? Or should I get my ass to the nearest hospital?

Aspirin and 11 Year Old?

rouschkateer asked:

My 11 year old daughter suffers from painful menstrual cramps. This is the second time she has had to come home from school because of them. The doctor said that heavy menstruation is normal in younger girls, especially when they are in their first year. However, ibuprofen did not work last time, so I gave her two low dose aspirin. It helped with her cramping immediately.

I know Reye’s Syndrome is a real danger to children, but how often does aspirin need to be administered before this occurs? I couldn’t find any answers on the Internet - it just says children and aspirin don’t mix.

I hate to see my child in pain, and I have tried everything else, from heating pads to teas, hydration, hot showers, ibuprofen and acetimetaphine.
